By-elections of the Parliament of Georgia and Batumi Sakrebulo to be held tomorrow

Tomorrow, on April 2, By-elections of the Parliament of Georgia and Batumi Sakrebulo will be held. Majoritarian member of the Parliament of Georgia will be elected in №12 majoritarian election district, which includes both Rustavi and part of Gardabani, and majoritarian member of Batumi Sakrebulo will be elected in №79.04 local majoritarian election district, which includes Gonio, Kvariati and Airport settlements.

135 polling stations are fully prepared for conducting by-elections, including 121 polling stations in Rustavi and Gardabani (3 precincts created in penitentiary institutions and 1 so-called Covid election precinct), and 14 polling stations in Batumi. Precinct Election Commission members have been trained and are ready to manage By-elections.

It should be noted that in Batumi, some election procedures will be implemented using electronic technologies within the framework of the pilot project. Electronic means for voting and vote counting will be used on the E-day, according to the decision of the CEC, the voter verification devices will be used for the first time in all 14 polling stations.

The total Number of Voters for the By-Elections of the Parliament of Georgia in №12 Majoritarian Constituencies stands at 139 989 voters, and for the By-elections of the Sakrebulo in №79.04 local majoritarian election district 20 635 voters are registered.

There are 3 registered election subjects for the parliamentary by-elections and 2 election subjects for the Sakrebulo by-elections. Voters will receive one ballot paper at the polling station.

278 representatives of election subjects, 1590 observers from 49 local observer organizations, and 22 international observers from 4 international observer organizations are registered to observe the elections. The election process will be covered by 679 representatives of 16 media organizations.
