The Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri held a working meeting on infrastructure projects. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the large-scale construction and repair works of the police infrastructure scheduled to be implemented at the MIA within the framework of infrastructure projects launched in the country under the initiative of the Prime Minister.
The meeting was attended by the First Deputy Minister - Shalva Bedoidze and the Deputy Ministers - Giorgi Butkhuzi, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze and Ioseb Chelidze, heads of the regional police departments and other structural units that are planning major infrastructure projects.
Vakhtang Gomelauri noted at the meeting that rehabilitation of police buildings and bases is planned to bring them in line with common European standards. Minister also reviewed the construction of “police city” for police officers in Tbilisi. The MIA, in coordination with the Government, has already started working on the project of construction of a 1000-apartment residential complex. The project will be implemented in Saburtalo district, on Jikia Street, where a special police base was located.
“I would like to touch upon the topic of housing construction announced by Mr. Prime Minister, which is very important for us. I would like to express my gratitude towards the Prime Minister, under his initiative and support this project was launched and I am sure we will be able to finish it. We know that in the first stage the construction of 1000 apartments is planned. It is important for each police officer that the project will not be just comprised of the first stage, we think the project will continue in the coming years”, - said Gomelauri.
The Minister received information from the heads of the structural units on specific needs and issues on the basis of which the police infrastructure projects will be developed and implemented in a timely manner.
Vakhtang Gomelauri added at the meeting that providing a decent working environment for police officers and creating social guarantees is one of the main priorities for the Ministry. The main goal of the projects planned in coordination with the government is to further improve the quality of police services for the population and working conditions for all employees.
