“No matter how many rallies they hold, this building will not be assigned to them,” - stated Minister of Internally Displaced Persons and Refugees Sozar Subari at a briefing that took place simultaneously with a protest by inhabitants of a former military hospital outside the Ministry building.
According to Subari, the former military hospital was transferred to the Ministry for long-term accommodation of refugees in 2014. The Minister said that 160 IDP families live in terrible conditions, yet the Ministry cannot transfer them to the military hospital building because the people living there obstruct the process.
According to him, City Hall is ready to rent interim accommodations for the socially vulnerable families living in the hospital building until they are provided with permanent living spaces, but the building will not be assigned to them permanently, no matter how many rallies they hold.
He said the Ministry had tried to move them out peacefully, without any violence. According to him, everything will be done in accordance with the law. The Minister urged that the building be vacated immediately.
In parallel with the briefing, protesters outside the Ministry building were demanding a meeting with the Minister, chanting “Come out, Sozar”.
