“The task of our country is to join the European Union. This is clearly written in the Constitution of Georgia and the only party that voted for the above is the Georgian Dream. The Georgian Government stated that we would apply for a candidate status in 2024, but the ongoing war in Ukraine accelerated the process and we applied together with Ukraine and Moldova.

If we are talking about Ukraine making great sacrifices for EU membership and the protection of European values, yes, I agree, this is truth and a sad reality. However, this price was paid by Georgia as well and we still pay it today. If we are talking about the fact that EU membership requires certain reforms and meeting the criteria, then we can boldly say that Georgia is far ahead of Ukraine and Moldova in terms of these criteria”, - said Sozar Subari.
