I want to believe that we can hope that the Government will take all the necessary steps. Such a statement made the President of Georgia in her address to the European Council.
“I want to convey on behalf of the Georgian people that what happened today may be a disappointment - we are not in the trio, but I think we are analyzing the fact that Georgia has been waiting for what happened today for many years, since independence - to join the European family and receive European perspective.
Everyone, including the Government, should understand that the chance given to the country is also a challenge. It is a challenge to be able to take seriously the path of reforms in the next six months.
I think the population of Georgia showed 2 days ago that they are ready. I, as President, am not only ready, but I also believe that I must fulfill the task of overseeing what our next steps will be.
So you can count on me, you can count on the Georgian people, and I want to believe that we can count on the Government that it will take all the necessary steps. It is a responsibility to the Georgian people, to our history, to our children, so I am sure we will take this challenge very seriously and work on it”, - said Salome Zourabichvili.
