I am not signing this as a result of bullying and pressure, said the President of Georgia, while talking about the reasons of her decision to convene an extraordinary session of the Parliament.

“I signed the decree convening the session. First of all, I want to be clear that I am not signing this as a result of bullying and pressure. I think everyone knows this very well, and thank you for caring about me. I signed it because I believe that the biggest challenge facing Georgia today is the 12 recommendations we received from the European Commission.

We should get it done in 6-7 months or whatever, but that’s our biggest challenge. Therefore, I believe that convening the session is completely justified, there is no justification for taking a break now, the committees and commissions are also justified.

I call on everyone, the opposition and the majority, to participate fully in everything. We must make every effort to pass the laws that are to be passed in a timely manner.

All issues, first of all, the issue of depolarization should be resolved by being together and through dialogue, by being in the Parliament. The only perspective of this country is the European perspective that we have adopted, and no one has the right to divert us from this path”, - said Salome Zourabichvili.
