Georgian fencer Sandro Bazadze won a bronze medal at Fencing World Championships in Cairo, with the result placing the 28-year-old 2nd in the international rankings.

He conceded his semifinal to Hungary’s Áron Szilágyi, the eventual winner of the sabre category at the event, with a score 11:15.

The Georgian athlete is now listed second in the International Fencing Federation ranking in the category, marking the highest position in his career. He was previously ranked second in the junior category for sabre.
