OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatović  responded to legal dispute against Rustavi 2 with a special statement. Dunja Mijatović today said that excessive court measures against the Georgian television channel Rustavi 2 based on an ownership dispute may pose a threat to free media and media pluralism.

 Besides international organizations,Georgian NGOs  see political motives in the campaign  launched against  Rustavi 2 and point to the shortcomings of the judicial decision. A special statement was released on behalf of  eight NGOs. The authors call on  political forces to refrain from exerting pressure on the court. 

Rustavi 2 will appeal the  ruling issued by Judge Urtmelidze.
