The government of the US is watching court proceedings against Rustavi2. The chargé d"affaires of the U.S Embassy, Nicolas Berliner made an announcement in an interview with media.ge. He stated that "it is regrettable that there is an impression that media freedom in Georgia is under threat and media pluralism is violated."
"The United States Government believes that the freedom of speech and freedom of media is a cornerstone of a healthy democratic society. We and the international community appreciate the open media environment in Georgia, which is exemplary in the region. Thus, the developments which create an impression that media freedom in Georgia is under threat danger and media pluralism is violated is regrettable. We are watching closely the developments . Any trial conducted with participation of media should be conducted in accordance with the highest standard of legal procedures. Any action that may limit media work , should be carefully reviewed, "- said Nicholas Berliner.
