The Defense Minister, Juansher Burchuladze reported to the Trust Group concerning the secret procurements by the Ministry in 2022 and the classified activities in 2023.
The Minister informed MPs about the processes in the Ministry and overviewed the security challenges and threats in the region. The EU and NATO aspirations of Georgia and the respective reforms have been underlined. The report also included the long-term planning directions of the Ministry that ensure the enhancement of the defense capacity, sustainability and retention, as well as the improvement of interoperability.
“We discussed the secret procurements for 2022, that are related to our defense capacities and infrastructural development, as well as the modernization of the armament and equipment. We touched upon the activities for 2023, namely, the classified part thereof. The Group members heard very interesting information. It is noteworthy that numerous steps are being taken for the enhancement of the defense capacity of Georgia, improvement of the morale of the Defense Forces and inter-operability with NATO”, - said Irakli Beraia, the Head of the Group, Defence abd Security Committee Chairman.
“Today, we held another meeting in the Trust Group where we discussed the procurements for 2023. I would like to thank the Group members for their constructive cooperation. We are maximally open, which underlines the degree of our transparency in the authority”, - added the Minister.
