Georgia is one of the leading countries in the direction of enforcement of international sanctions. Such a statement made today the Minister of Finance.
“Both the Government and the National Bank carry out very strict control. Therefore, there is no reason for anyone to suspect that sanctions are not being enforced in Georgia. We are in very close coordination with our partners - both the US and the EU. Information is exchanged and communicated on a daily basis. Georgia has received a lot of letters of gratitude for the measures that have been implemented in the last one year in order to enforce sanctions according to the standard that has been established.
Georgia is one of the advanced countries in the direction of enforcement of international sanctions. All the instruments that the country needs to have in this direction, both in the customs trade and in the financial direction, in relation to the banking sector, are in place and accordingly, these measures are being carried out.
We are also in constant communication with the bodies and agencies that carry out appropriate control in the EU, in UK, the US, and other countries that have directly imposed sanctions, and accordingly, this communication, the measures taken by Georgia, provide a guarantee that Georgia clearly fulfills its obligations”, - said Lasha Khutsishvili.
