Construction works started in Vardzia because of the danger of rock collapse. The rehabilitation must save the most critical areas of the complex .

The paintings are also being reconstructed. The project is implemented by the British donor- Jackson Fund.

Tourist infrastructure is also being arranged. The duration of project is five years. It will be completed in 2018.
