Russian-controlled occupation forces have illegally detained a Georgian citizen near the village of Dvani. The information is already confirmed by the State Security Service of Georgia.

According to the agency, it had activated the hotline operated for information exchange on developments along the occupation line, informed the European Union monitoring mission and co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions about the incident.

“All existing mechanisms were being utilised to ensure release of illegally detained Georgian citizen from custody in the occupied region”, - reads the statement.

The SSSG stressed that the occupation forces have been responsible for the “destructive actions” committed in Georgia’s occupied territories, as well as in the vicinity of the occupation line.
