I sincerely hope that Georgia will receive candidate status, but again, the decision is in the hands of 27 member states at the highest political level - EU Ambassador

I sincerely hope that Georgia will receive candidate status, but again, the decision is in the hands of 27 member states at the highest political level. Such a statement made the Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia.

“I can once again explain the process. Now the European Commission is drafting the so called enlargement report. This enlargement report is based on many different inputs, including on the inputs that we have received from the Georgian government. The report will be published in October. So there is still some time in order to make sure that as much progress is made as possible on 12 priorities.

And then it will be up to 27 EU member states at the highest political level, at the level of presidents and prime ministers to decide what further steps to make when it comes to Georgia. If you ask me about my personal opinion, I sincerely hope that Georgia will receive candidate status, but again, the decision is in the hands of 27 member states at the highest political level”, - said Pawel Herczynski.
