Prime Ministers of Georgia and Kazakhstan discuss the current cooperation trends at the extended meeting

Interface meeting by and between Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia and Alihan Smaiylov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan was followed with an extended meeting, whereby the governments of both countries discussed the current cooperation trends at the Government Administration.

As Irakli Garibashvili noted, bilateral trade increased by 136% between the countries last year and this positive trend continues to this day, thereby referring to a 283% increase in trade volumes in January-April of 2023, reaching 188 MLN USD.

Delegations reviewed the prospects of growing export and import at the markets of Kazakhstan and Georgia.

According to the host Prime Minister, Georgia is interested in cooperation with the Republic of Kazakhstan in the area of investments and welcomes Kazakh investors to Georgia. It was noted that impactful Kazakh companies are successfully operating in our country, who use the pro-business conditions, thereby facilitating the economic development and advancement of the country.

Positive trend of cooperation pursued within the scope of TRACECA and projects implemented within the international transport routes was also discussed at the meeting. As the Head of Government of Georgia noted, operation of the Middle Corridor at the full scale will promote the referred transport route within the international format.

Delegations also discussed the transport infrastructure of Georgia and prospects of cooperation in the areas of oil transportation through the ports of the Black Sea and transportation of natural resources from the Caspian Sea. Readiness was expressed for a further intensification of interaction between the Governments of Georgia and Republic of Kazakhstan for the implementation of a project of connecting Europe with Asia with optic-fiber communication lines.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by and between the Ministry of Economy of Georgia and Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan at the end of the extended meeting between the governments, along with an agreement between Georgian and Kazakh companies.
