Prime Minister of Georgia held a farewell meeting with H.E. Ulrik Tideström, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Georgia today.
Meeting was focused on the discussion of a productive cooperation between Georgia and the Kingdom of Sweden. Attention was paid to the support demonstrated by Sweden towards various directions of development in Georgia. As Irakli Garibashvili stated, Sweden is one of the largest international donors of Georgia and it has hugely contributed to the democratic and institutional modernization of the country as well as in its socio-economic development and advancement.
Discussion touched upon the support demonstrated by Sweden in the journey of European integration of Georgia, which is particularly vital if taken into consideration in the context of Swedish chairmanship of the European Council.
Progress achieved by Georgia was also noted at the meeting, inter alia related to the positive trend of 12 recommendations and their implementation. According to the Prime Minister, EU integration is the choice made by the Georgian people and the country is expecting the status of an EU Candidate Country.
Irakli Garibashvili expressed his gratitude to Ulrik Tideström for the support of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia, as well as its EU integration and European reform agenda, thereby wishing him every success in future endeavors.
