The country’s economy grew by almost GEL 30 billion in 3 years, said the Prime Minister of Georgia, while presenting the annual report to the Parliament.
“I would like to tell you in more detail about our activities. I would start with an overview of the economy in general. For the last 2 years, we have had strong economic growth, 10% economic growth. I also want to say that just 2 years ago, the country"s economy, gross domestic product was about GEL 50 billion, in 2021 it was 60 billion, last year it was GEL 72 billion, and this year we expect that the gross domestic product of the whole country will be about GEL 80 billion.
During 3 years, the economy of our country grew by almost GEL 30 billion. This figure will be USD 8,200 per capita this year. We remind you that 3 years ago, in 2020, the gross domestic product per capita was about USD 4,500. I would also like to note that the so-called external vulnerability was decreased.
In 2022 the account deficit in relation to GDP improved by 6.3% and equaled the historical minimum - 4.1%. If we compare the deficit of the current account in relation to the GDP in 2012, which was 2 times higher, we have made significant progress”, - said Irakli Garibashvili.
