Georgia is facing huge geopolitical challenges, it is our duty to go through it with prudence and patience, to enable the country to develop - Garibashvili

Georgia is facing huge geopolitical challenges, it is our duty to go through it with prudence and patience, to enable the country to develop, said the Prime Minister of Georgia in his welcoming speech to the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie.

“Assemblée Parlementaire de la Francophonies, consisting of men and women well equipped with a sound knowledge of peace, freedom and solidarity as core values and their significance, is sharing with us most sacred ideals in these particularly turbulent times for the entire world. Georgia is currently facing huge geopolitical challenges and it is our duty to go through it with prudence and patience, be cautious and act with wisdom and foresight, to maintain peace and enable the country to develop further and to meet the expectations of our people.

From the very first days since regaining its independence, Georgia embarked on the road of European integration. We are diligent, anxious and patient in this journey. We look forward to the decision of the European Commission about the status of an EU Candidate Country. From our side, we stand ready to comply with all the recommendations that have been issued and we hope that our efforts will be rewarded by Georgia soon acceding to the European family.

Moreover, only a few countries of the world can claim to have implemented all the reforms that make Georgia into a success story in the fight against corruption, in ensuring the budget transparency, in reducing the bureaucracy, in supporting the business incorporation, in making our fiscal policy one of the most inviting in the world.

Georgia will be a reliable, decent partner of your Assembly and will contribute to the grand building of international peace and security.

Once again, I wish to note that it is an honor for Georgia to be engaged in this historic session”, - said Irakli Garibashvili.
