At the initiative of the Ministry of Health, a new package of changes envisaging setting minimum wages for positions of hospital attendant, junior doctor, nurse’s aide, nurse’s assistant has been elaborated.
A new initiative was offered to the heads of clinic by the representatives of the Ministry of Health. It was noted during the meeting that the reform will significantly contribute to increasing employees’ motivation and productivity, and will enhance working conditions and quality of services.
The representatives of the field will be presenting their opinions and reasoning related to the changes within one-week period.
As a result of the reform, a clinic enrolled in Universal Healthcare Program will be obliged to set wages for medical personnel in accordance with minimum threshold presented by the Ministry. Otherwise the clinic will be rejected from Universal Healthcare Program.
The first stage of the reform on minimum hourly wages for medical personnel has come into force from January 1, 2023. Per these changes, minimum hourly wage was defined as 7 GEL per hour (minimum 1,260 GEL monthly) for physicians and 4,4 GEL per hour for nurses (minimum 792 GEL monthly).
