Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia met Barbel Bas, President of Bundestag of the Federal Republic of Germany today.
Discussion at the meeting was focused on the current relations of Georgia and Germany, as well as prospects of future collaboration.
Contribution of Germany in the institutional and socio-economic transformation of Georgia was noted, along with the support demonstrated towards the implementation of reforms on the path leading to the EU.
Progress achieved by Georgia in its journey towards accession to the EU was highlighted at the meeting, including the reforms carried out within the scope of recommendations issued by the European Council. It was noted that Georgia highly values the strong support of Germany in the EU membership of Georgia.
The Head of Government of Georgia reiterated that aspiration towards Europe is unwavering. Efforts made by the country have been highlighted towards complying with 12 points recommended by the European Commission. The Head of Government of Georgia expressed his gratitude to the President of Bundestag for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia, as well as the non-recognition policy. Significance of German engagement was highlighted in the EU Monitoring Mission, as well as in the implementation of the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package with its significant expertise and financial contribution.
