Defence Code to be discussed during the extraordinary session of Parliament

At today’s extraordinary session of the Parliament, the second reading of the Defence Code will continue.

The proposed amendments by the Ministry of Defense constitute a significant reform that brings about fundamental changes to the military service, aligning it closely with defense objectives and introducing essential social security guarantees for armed forces.

These changes establish robust legal foundations for defense organization and enhance compatibility with NATO standards.

A crucial aspect of the reform is the transformation of mandatory military service, offering several options for young individuals to fulfill their obligations.

Additionally, voluntary military training programs will be available, such as a four-year summer training course, leading to enrollment in the reserve.

Mandatory servicemen will benefit from both regime and social protection guarantees, including health insurance and other benefits.
