It is not the diplomat’s job to give orders regarding the arrest of anyone - Kobakhidze responds to US Ambassador

It is not the Ambassador’s job to give orders regarding the arrest of anyone, a diplomat should not talk about this. Such a statement made today the Chairman of the Georgian Dream, while responding to the US Ambassador, Kelly Degnan.

“As for the punishment, it is not the Ambassador’s job to give orders to arrest anyone, a diplomat should not talk about it. I would like to remind you that when it comes to arresting, chronologically, the perpetrators of March 7-8 have to be first, and then it may be someone else’s turn.

Once again, it is not a diplomat’s job to give orders about arrest. We have independent law-enforcement bodies, thank God, and they make decisions regarding these topics.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs did everything possible to prevent violence, and it is thanks to the MIA that no one was physically harmed despite the risks”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.

The US Ambassador to Georgia, speaking about the events related to the Pride Festival, said today that “everyone in Tbilisi will feel much safer when the people on the video are arrested and prosecuted”.
