We expect a fair decision on our candidate status in December - we are not shying away from commitments. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia at a briefing with the Prime Minister of Croatia.
“In recent years, Georgia has achieved excellent results in terms of the rule of law, economic development, strengthening of social security, and we see the recognition of international authoritative organizations.
I also want to say that ideal freedom determined Georgia’s desire to join the European Union, and we are closer to this national goal now than we have ever been. Visa liberalization, association agreement, including free trade space are the tangible achievements that our government has achieved in recent years.
In 2022 European leaders, including Croatia, decided to give Georgia a European perspective, which created unprecedented momentum on this path. A year or more has passed since this historic moment, and we have proven that we have the strongest will to fulfill our obligations and become a member of the European Union.
In December, we expect a fair decision, a strategic decision, I would say, a political decision from Europe, which concerns our candidacy status. This will be another historic decision and well-deserved recognition of the successful reforms and positive transformation implemented in the country.
We are fully aware that joining the EU entails long-term obligations and responsibilities. It is a long but satisfying process. We do not shy away from these commitments. We are ready to do everything necessary to reach our destination in order to become a member state of the European Union”, - said Irakli Garibashvili.
