Georgian Prime Minister met with Sir Philip Barton, Permanent Under-Secretary of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
In the meeting at the Government Administration, the strategic partnership and positive dynamic in the development of political relations between Georgia and the United Kingdom were discussed.
As Irakli Garibashvili noted, Georgia appreciates the firm support of the UK for Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-recognition policy. The Prime Minister underlined the considerable contribution of the UK to the empowerment of state institutions and the country’s democratic development.
The parties at the meeting discussed the Georgia-UK Wardrop Strategic Dialogue that encompasses a whole specter of strategic partnership cooperation between the two countries and underpins the cooperation agreement. The conversation touched on the ongoing military action in Ukraine and the war’s impact on the regional security environment.
The meeting was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Georgia, Mark Clayton, the Foreign Minister of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, and the Head of the Government Administration, Revaz Javelidze.
