Sergo Gugutishvili and Tamaz Kakhabrishvili, who were illegally detained by the Russian occupying forces near the village of Koshka, Gori municipality, are free and are in the territory controlled by the central government. Such a statement was released by the State Security Service of Georgia.
“The EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia and the Co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions [GID] were directly involved in the process. Besides, the issue of their illegal detention and immediate release was regularly raised by the representatives of central Government at meetings held in the formats of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism and the GID.
Responsibility for all destructive actions carried out in the occupied regions of Georgia and along the occupation line rests with the occupying power. The central government, together with international partners, continues to work actively to release all persons in illegal detention, in the direction of the occupied Tskhinvali region and occupied Abkhazia”, - reads the statement.
