Russian aggression resulted in large human casualties, forced displacement of civilians and temporary occupation of our territories, which still remains the main challenge, wrote the Prime Minister of Georgia on his Facebook page, while responding to the 15th anniversary of the August war.
“It has been 15 years since the beginning of the August 2008 war. Today is a special day for all of us - Russian military aggression resulted in large human casualties, forced displacement of civilians and temporary occupation of our territories, which still remains the main challenge for the sovereignty and further development of our country.
Once again we will honor the clear memory of our heroic soldiers and civilians who died in the war. Our Government remains committed to the peaceful path of restoring territorial integrity and reunification of the country.
We are driven by the unwavering belief that a peaceful, united, strong, developed Georgia is the best prospect for Georgians, Ossetians, Abkhazians, for all the people living on our land, and we are doing everything to make this goal a reality soon”, - writes Irakli Garibashvili.
