Georgia continues to fight for its identity, freedom and progress, we continue to develop in order to soon achieve the cherished goal - to build a united, strong Georgia together with Abkhazian and Ossetian brothers and sisters, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia wrote on his Facebook page.
“It has been 31 years that the Georgian state has been deprived of its indigenous land. Georgia continues to fight for its identity, freedom and progress, we continue to develop in order to soon achieve the cherished goal - to build a united, strong Georgia together with Abkhazian and Ossetian brothers and sisters.
The tragedy that took place 31 years ago is a personal tragedy for thousands of people, the greatest trial of the country and the hardest reality facing our homeland, which we will never put up with.
Our goal is clear - to walk the path that leads to the hearts of our brothers. With peace, love and forgiveness, let us be able to heal wounds for our homeland, walk together and build together, continue to enjoy a pleasant and dignified coexistence. This is our main national task today.
I am sure that this day will definitely come and August 14 will become a page in the history of Georgia, a page for learning a lesson. It is our duty to erase this tragic page, so that future generations, when remembering Abkhazia, have the joy of victory and reconstruction instead of pain”, - writes Shalva Papuashvili.
