Confusing statements are made, but the main thing is that we don’t get confused, said today the first Vice Speaker of the Parliament, Gia Volski, while commenting the statement of the deputy press-speaker of the European Commission.
“The European Council, like the European Commission, represents the structure of the European Union. If these structures do not have a certain terminology agreed upon and such statements are made, it is confusing.
Irakli Kobakhidze also said about the date of 2030, and I also agree that it is confusing, the speech of the representative of the Commission that they did not talk to each other is confusing. And it can happen before 2030 and after that in 2040.
We have such examples that countries with candidate status have been waiting for concrete decisions for ten years. There are also statements by European leaders regarding what should be the conditions for EU membership, etc. So the discussion is going on, confusing statements are made, but the main thing is that we don’t get confused.
We know what we want, we firmly stand on our position, we want to get the candidate status this time and then continue working intensively in order to become worthy members of the EU in the near future”, - said Gia Volski.
