Person wanted by Interpol extradited from Georgia to Italy for supporting mafia-type group

A person wanted under the Interpol red circular was extradited from Georgia to Italy for supporting a mafia-type group.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia, a person wanted by the law enforcement bodies of Italy for the purpose of extradition was arrested on the territory of Georgia on the basis of an international wanted notice announced for him through Interpol channels.

“The mentioned person and other members of the group systematically obtained financial benefits for the group by committing money laundering, drug, fraud, extortion and other crimes.

The wanted person was arrested by the Central Criminal Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia in Tbilisi.

The Prosecutor’s Office expresses its readiness to successfully cooperate with the competent authorities of partner countries in the future in order to bring the wanted persons to justice”, - reads the statement of the Prosecutor’s Office.
