Natia Turnava took part in the Women in Leadership meeting held as part of Singapore Fintech Festival

Natia Turnava, Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, took part in the Women in Leadership meeting held as part of Singapore Fintech Festival, the world’s largest event of the financial and technology industry.

The meeting discussed gender community, involvement of women in society and economic activities, and increased role of women.

Natia Turnava informed the participants of the meeting about actions taken by the National Bank of Georgia to empower women, including raising the level of financial education of women.

She also spoke about the amendments made by the National Bank of Georgia to the Corporate Governance Code. The amendments set the gender quota in the Supervisory Boards of banks at 33%, to take effect from June of this year. The quota will be at least 40% from 2025. The Code now includes the requirement to have at least 33% of the Directorate of commercial banks and micro banks composed of both genders. The speaker also emphasized that four of the six members of the Supervisory Board of the National Bank of Georgia are women.

The National Bank of Georgia participated in the Singapore Fintech Festival for the first time this year and had its own exhibition stand, where Bank of Georgia and Fave, the Georgian fintech startup, were represented together with the NBG as co-participants.

Georgia’s key message was Financial technologies and the development impetus of the Middle Corridor.

The annual Singapore FinTech Festival is the world"s largest fintech exhibition held at Singapore EXPO, the country’s largest conference and exhibition space. This year’s Festival hosts 140 countries of the world, more than 60 thousand participants and over 10,000 organizations.
