In 2023 the trend of the increase in crime- solving index continued, last year, 64.87% of registered crimes were solved by the investigative agency - MIA

In order to inform the public, statistic data on crime for 2023 was published on the official website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - https://info.police.ge/

According to statistics, in 2023, the rate of crimes registered across the country decreased compared to the same period of 2022.

As in previous years, in 2023 the trend of the increase in crime- solving index continued, and last year, 64.87% of registered crimes were solved by the investigative agency.

In 2023, crimes committed against lives have been reduced.

Within the reporting period, 178 cases of premeditated murder and attempted murders were registered, which is a decrease by 8.71% compared to the data of 2022.

It is also notable that facts of severe damage to health on purpose have been reduced.

The trend of decreasing crimes against property also continues. The cases of theft, including apartment burglary, have decreased.

As a result of the effective legal policy implemented by the police against the illegal distribution of narcotic drugs and the active fight against drug-related crime by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the facts of drug crime detection have increased as well.

In 2023, compared to 2022, the facts of drug crime detection by law enforcement officers increased by 20.53%.

The increased rate of detection is also observed in relation to cybercrime, amounting to 7.3%.

In 2023, the number of crimes committed against sexual freedom and inviolability increased in proportion to the increase of trust and rate of police reporting from the side of victims.

As for the facts of forced marriage, it has increased in 2023 compared to the same period of 2022, which is largely due to the fact that awareness has been raised with regard to the mentioned crime in society.
