James Appathurai talks about media freedom and "Rustavi 2"

NATO Secretary General"s spokesman James Appathurai made the statement on Rustavi 2 and media freedom upon arrival atTbilisi airport and said that he would ask the questions related to the independent TV stationat all of his meetings.

Freedom of the media was the issue on which James Appathurai focused during news briefing at the Defence Ministry. The Special Representative noted that the freedom of the media and the courts were fundamental values for the Alliance.

During the meeting the Secretary General spoke about the reforms conducted in the law enforcement agencies. Appathurai said the alliance positively assessed the defense reforms, and this would be reflected in the Warsaw summit.
