Georgian people will have dignified response to any baseless statement, attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of our country - Archil Gorduladze on the statement of the CoE’s Bureau of the Congress

Georgian people will have dignified response to any baseless statement, attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of our country. Such a comment the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Issues made while responding to the statement of the Bureau of the Congress of the Council of Europe.

"I wonder if people in their countries curse police officers in the face, throw flares at them, and attempt to burn police officers alive, what will their reaction be? Or if someone else, even a Georgian politician, makes a statement in their own country that he does not recognize the elections, what statements will they make and what will their attitude be?

Accordingly, instead of making any statement that is completely baseless, that is an attempt to directly interfere in the internal affairs of our country, it would be better if these people remained silent, otherwise the response of the Georgian people will certainly be the one that befits decent people", - said Archil Gorduladze.

On February 10, the Bureau of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe issued a statement urging the Government of Georgia to "fully uphold European standards of human rights, release detained protesters, and make substantive changes in the country’s political climate prior to the October’s scheduled local elections".
