Georgia ranks among the top-5 in in Happiness Index improvement

Oxford University’s Wellbeing Research Centre, together with the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network and Gallup, published the World Happiness Report 2025.

The document analyses historical trends in life evaluation across 147 countries and territories since the index’s inception.

The researchers compared the results of the global surveys from the baseline period of 2005-2010 with similar studies from 2022-2024. Based on this historical progress, the top-5 countries globally were identified.

According to the report, “all 5 leaders are located in Central and Eastern Europe: Serbia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Latvia, and Romania”.

Overall, Georgia ranks 91st in the global World Happiness Index. However, the country excelled in key areas, ranking among the top 50 globally for freedom and perceptions of corruption.

The report also underlines Georgia’s progress since 2012, placing it 8th worldwide for happiness index improvement during that period.
