
At the sitting of the Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee, the Parliamentary Secretary of the Government, Vakhtang Bachiashvili, presented the draft law on amendments to the Law of Georgia on the Structure, Powers and Rules of Operation of the Government of Georgia in the 2nd reading, article by article.
According to the proposed amendments, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure will be reorganised and replaced by two separate state institutions: the Ministry of Regional Development of Georgia and the Ministry of Infrastructure of Georgia.
The rapporteur informed committee members about the changes introduced to the bill following its adoption in the first reading. Specifically, the Department for Regional Relations of the Government Administration and the Coordinating Council for the Strategic Development of Mountain Regions will be merged into the newly established Ministry of Regional Development.
Committee members expressed their support for the draft law and the related legislative package in the 2nd reading.
