The Ministry of Culture has dismissed David Doiashvili, director of the Vaso Abashidze Music and Drama Theatre, citing the institution`s failure to fulfill its "founding objectives".
"The Vaso Abashidze Professional State Theater of Music and Drama is a legal entity of public law established by the state.
The state professional theater, like any other LEPL, has a legal obligation to fulfill the purposes for which it was established by the state.
In particular, the creative activities of the theater should be carried out as continuously as the financing of the theater from the state budget.
Despite repeated warnings from the Ministry of Culture, unfortunately, the leadership of the Vaso Abashidze Professional State Theater of Musical Comedy and Drama did not fulfill this obligation envisaged by the founding goals. In the conditions of continuous funding received from the state budget, the creative process in the theater was suspended for months.
Therefore, the Ministry, as the founding agency of the LEPL Vaso Abashidze Professional State Theater, made a legal decision to dismiss the person responsible for the continuous and smooth functioning of the LEPL, theater director, David Doiashvili, from his position", - reads the statement of the agency.
