The Minister of Sport of Georgia, Shalva Gogoladze, is on a working visit to the capital of Hungary, Budapest. Within the framework of the working visit, Shalva Gogoladze met with the President of the International Judo Federation, Marius Vizer.
At the meeting, the parties discussed judo in Georgia as one of the most developed sports; the parties also officially agreed that Georgia will host the 2029 World Championships.
Following the meeting, an agreement was signed, according to which the 2029 World Judo Championships will be held in Georgia. The agreement regarding the hosting of the championships was signed by the Minister of Sport, Shalva Gogoladze, and the President of the International Judo Federation, Marius Vizer.
Along with the Minister of Sport, the Deputy Minister of Sport, Irakli Dolaberidze, and other members of the delegation are also present in Budapest.
The possibility of hosting the World Judo Championships was discussed during Marius Vizer's visit to Georgia at a meeting held at the Ministry of Sport, where prospects for future cooperation were reviewed. Marius Vizer visited Tbilisi during the Judo Grand Slam.
