In 2025, the practice of detecting drug dealers and investigating their criminal networks increased – Gvarakidze

In 2025, the practice of detecting drug dealers and investigating their criminal networks increased, while a strict criminal justice policy was implemented against facilitators involved in criminal networks. Particular attention was paid to migrating visitors at the border and imported cargo. Prosecutor General of Georgia said this during the presentation of the Prosecutor’s Office 2025 performance report to the Parliament.

According to Giorgi Gvarakidze, within the framework of measures taken to prevent the smuggling of narcotic and other prohibited substances into Georgia and their international transit shipment, the crime detection and response rates in 2025 improved compared to the previous year’s figures.

“Despite the growing number of narcotic substance users, the Prosecutor’s Office maintained a balanced policy toward them and utilized sentences that promote resocialization and rehabilitation, which serve as a means to reduce the spread of crime and help users break free from addiction”, - added the Prosecutor General.
