Special training held in Adigeni under “Supporting the Implementation of the Forest Sector Reform in Georgia – ECO Georgia” project

Within the framework of the project “Supporting the Implementation of the Forest Sector Reform in Georgia - ECO Georgia”, a special training session was conducted on the state forest territory in Adigeni. Together with an invited international expert, local specialists will introduce the participants to the entire cycle of timber harvesting, including logging site allocation, practical timber harvesting, and technologies for the safe use of modern technical equipment (chainsaws, skidder tractors).

“Given that forestry management operations involve high risks, it is particularly important for our employees to possess the appropriate knowledge in both occupational safety and the use of modern technologies. This will allow us to scale up our activities towards the sustainable use of forest resources”, stated Koba Silagadze, Head of the Samtskhe-Javakheti Forestry Service.

The project “Supporting the Implementation of the Forest Sector Reform in Georgia – ECO Georgia” is being implemented in three regions of Georgia, co-funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the governments of Germany, Switzerland, and Georgia. A 14-million-euro grant agreement has been signed between the LEPL National Forestry Agency and its implementing partner, the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).
