A Georgian citizen unlawfully detained toward the occupied Tskhinvali region has been freed and is now in the territory controlled by the central government. Such a statement was released by the State Security Service of Georgia [SSSG].
According to the agency, the central Government regularly raised the issue of the unconditional release of the Georgian citizen from unlawful imprisonment within the framework of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism [IPRM] and the Geneva International Discussions.
“Both the “hotline” mechanism and all other instruments at the disposal of the central government were used intensively. International partners were actively involved in the negotiations.
The central government, together with international partners, continues active work to release all Georgian citizens held in unlawful detention in the occupied territories”, - reads the statement of the SSSG.
