Anaklia Deep Sea Port is an important project for Georgian economy, it will contribute to employment, as well as the growth of the country’s GDP - Eric Bates

The Anaklia Deep Sea Port project is an important undertaking for the Georgian economy, contributing to employment growth as well as an increase in Georgia’s gross domestic product and global GDP. Such a statement made today Eric Bates, Director of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project and representative of Belgian company Jan De Nul.

Speaking about the project, Bates expressed Jan De Nul’s pride in participating in the development of the Anaklia port.

“To ensure high-quality engineering at the highest level, we are cooperating with the internationally recognized engineering company Royal Haskoning. Together, we have developed an optimized design aimed at achieving the best possible outcome without compromising efficiency or quality… Jan De Nul is currently operating two state-of-the-art vessels, Al Idrisi and Tristao da Cunha, which can carry out dredging works of more than 70,000 cubic meters per day”, - said Bates.

As he added, the company would complete the dredging works on schedule and provide a 17.5-meter-deep entrance channel, enabling some of the largest vessels to enter the Black Sea.

“We are very proud to be implementing this project and demonstrating our capabilities. We hope to maintain a leading role in the subsequent stages of the project”, - concluded Eric Bates.
