Rescuers have transported the injured person in Mestia by helicopter to a safe location

Firefighter-rescuers have transported the injured individual, who was located in the alpine zone near the Arshira River in Mestia, to a safe location using a Border Police helicopter.

According to the Emergency Management Service [EMS], based on information received by the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Public Safety Command Center “112”, a group of three people was hiking when one of them sustained a lower limb injury and was no longer able to move independently.

Immediately upon receiving information about the injured person, the EMS began planning a rescue operation, in which a helicopter from the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was deployed.

Employees of the EMS brought the injured individual down to Kutaisi via the helicopter, from where they were subsequently transferred to a medical clinic.
