Prime Minister of Georgia introduced the newly-appointed Minister of Culture, Maia Bitadze, to the Ministry’s employees.

The Head of Government of Georgia highlighted Maia Bitadze’s many years of experience in public service and wished her every success in her new position.

“It was very important for us, as a matter of principle, that a person with appropriate management experience should lead the Ministry of Culture. Arts and culture is one of our top priorities, and we want to achieve fundamental changes in the cultural sector over the coming years. There are numerous challenges in various areas and these challenges are also linked to global challenges. We believe that substantial progress can be achieved in many areas. Every single field of Georgian culture is a priority for us and we are confident that Maia will lead the Ministry of Culture with great dedication and care”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.

Maia Bitadze thanked the Prime Minister of Georgia for his demonstrated trust and noted that her appointment as Minister of Culture was a great responsibility for her.

“I am fully aware of the enormous responsibility entrusted to me and I very much hope that, through our joint efforts, we will be able to live up to the expectations expressed by the Prime Minister. As you may well be aware, I have many years of experience working in public service and beyond. Although my career to date has not been connected with the arts and cultural sector, I hope that very soon we will be able to begin, in a precise and structured manner, implementing the key objectives that have already been set by the Government”, - noted the Minister.

The meeting was attended by the department heads of the Ministry of Culture and the heads of its legal entities under public law (LEPL).
