As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by employees of the Investigation Service of Ministry of Finance of Georgia, together with employees of the Customs Department of the Revenue Service, one person was exposed on the fact of violation of the rules of movement of especially large quantity of goods across the customs border.
Based on the investigation carried out on the basis of operative information, it was determined that a citizen of the Republic of Armenia, through the “Sadakhlo” Customs Checkpoint, brought various medicines across the customs border of Georgia, concealing them from customs control, using a specially arranged hiding place in a gas tank located in the trunk of the passenger vehicle driven by him. The customs value of the medicines amounted to GEL 44 892.
Investigation is underway under Article 214, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 5 to 7 years.
