The EU plans to remove. a large part of sanctions against Belarus. The issue will be discussed at the upcoming meeting at which according to diplomatic sources, sanctions against President Alexander Lukashenko and another 170 persons will be abolished. Presumably, weapons embargo will be left enforced .

The EU introduced sanctions against the Belarus government in 2010, after the crackdown on opposition rallies in Minsk after presidential elections.
