Metropolitan of Chkondidi expresses his full support to Deacon Giorgi Mamaladze, detained on the so-called Cyanide Case. After his visit to prison he made an announcement and stated that he was convinced of the innocence of the Deacon.

Archbishop Peter says that Giorgi Mamladze should be released after the Patriarch’s arrival to Georgia.

"Thank God, my forecast and doubts have been confirmed. The Church and the government have been involved in a big problem and scandal. Everything should be done and Father Giorgi should be released as soon as possible. I am ready to defend this person till my last breath,"- Archbishop Petre stated.

"I say that Father Giorgi is absolutely innocent and it is insidious, subtle intrigue, in which everyone has been involved. My suspicion is that it was also partly directed against the Metropolitan Dimitri of Batumi and Lazeti,"- said Father Petre.
