As a result of consultations between the Government and the Parliament, ban on tobacco smoking in public places has been postponed for 1 year and will be launched from May 1, 2018.
According to MP Guguli Maghradze, the initiator of the draft law, the parliament has made some kind of concession in order to gradually transform the tobacco industry.
Guguli Maghradze says that in such case the loss will be less.
European Georgia also speaks about the need for tobacco control. However, the party claims that the rigid acts can cause irreparable damage to business.
