The Parliament has adoptedamendment to the Land Law in the third reading . According to the decision of the legislature, after the president`s signature, the regulation of the Law on Agricultural Land Ownership Law which determines the rights of foreigners in respect of land ownership will be suspended.

According to the initiative, the moratorium will act until the adoption of the constitutional amendments. The project was unanimously adopted by 87 votes in the third hearing.

"Until the constitutional draft law is not adopted and there is no high interest in this type of lands, the threats are increasing and the moratorium will prevent these threats," - said Eka Beselia, chairwoman of the parliamentary committee on legal issues.

The initiative was not supported by the "National Movement" and "European Georgia".

"This is a government decision that will not benefit the country, it is economically damaging and it looks like the government doesn`t cares for the development of the country, but only for getting point during elections," - said Roman Gotsiridze, a member of the National Movement.
