"Disinformation was disseminated," - said Irakli Kobakhidze, chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia about the criticism of constitutionalists.
The Constitutionalists talk about the introduction of amendments to the new Constitution in violation of the regulations. The constitutionalist Levan Alabishvili argues that the constitution"s record that in 2018 the president should be directly elected for a term of six years was introduced to the document in violation of the Rules of procedures.
According to the Chairman of the Parliament, the constitutionalists` accusation is disinformation.
"There was initiative of Ms. Tamar Khulordava about the term of the president for six years. This is an appropriate norm in the transitional provisions. This amendment was based on the opinion that the Parliament of Georgia was elected in the proportional system for the first time in 2024 and it was desirable that the president would have been elected in a new indirect manner by 300 voters, "- said Irakli Kobakhidze.
