In the next autumn, the Georgian population will presumably choose the president in direct elections. A reliable source from the ruling party informed "Courier" that the leaders of the ruling party have already started the discussions regarding the presidential candidate of " Georgian Dream".

According to the "Courier", the two candidacies are considered - Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze. The start of the consultations in the ruling team is not confirmed yet, but they think both candidates are acceptable.

Under the new constitution the function of the president will be mainly foreign policy. Therefore, "Georgian Dream" does not exclude that Mikheil Janelidze would be a successful president. Part of the majority members rule out Mikheil Janelidze`s candidacy for the position of the president.

According to experts, it will be logical if "Georgian Dreams" makes a choice for a candidate who is already working in foreign relations and is known to the foreign partners.

After the presidential elections of 2018, the country`s first person will be elected by 300 members.
